Admissions (JD): <2L & 3L's only>
Reads files of applicants for admission to the JD Program referred to committee by the Director of Admissions. Consistent with faculty policy, makes admission decisions. Makes recommendations to the faculty on policy issues as appropriate.

Teacher Evaluations Steering Committee
This committee was just created by BHSA to research and implement ways of getting the teacher evaluations published. Lots of flexibility is given.

Academic Placement
Promotes entry of Boalt students into law teaching. Develops programs to create student interest in teaching, gathers names of interested students and recent graduates, and advises students and recent graduates about entering the teaching market. Prepares a list of potential faculty candidates to be circulated to appropriate schools.

Academic Rules:
Serves as a resource for the Dean of Students for interpreting the Academic Rules. Examines proposed revisions or additions to the Rules and makes recommendations to the faculty for final action.

Admissions (JSP)
Reads files of applicants for admission to the JSP Program and, consistent with faculty policy, makes admission decisions. Makes recommendations to the faculty on policy issues as appropriate.

Building/ Maintenance
Gives advice on pending building improvement and maintenance projects in the Law School. This year, building improvement projects include possible renovations in the Goldberg Room, the large lecture rooms, Booth Auditorium, and the faculty library. Also, makes recommendations regarding allocation of space within the Law School complex.

Clerkship
Promotes entry of Boalt students into federal and state judicial clerkships. The committee will continue its work to develop a program to create student interest in clerking, inform students of relevant procedures, and counsel them on clerkship opportunities

Faculty Appointments Liason Committee
Prepares the annual report on hiring needs for faculty consideration, identifies candidates for appointment in consultation with the Dean, organizes recruitment of candidates, and presents candidates to the faculty for appointment.

Skills and Clinical
Advises the dean and faculty on issues concerning Boalt Hall's professional skills and clinical programs. During the 2000-01 academic year, the Committee will: (1) work in coordination with the Teaching and Curriculum to develop teaching and course evaluation forms for clinical and skills courses; (2) advise the dean whether to create a position of Director of Professional Skills Training; and (3) review and make recommendations regarding proposals from the Director of the Center for Clinical Education for new clinics that would operate within the Center.

Teaching and Curriculum
Considers faculty proposals related to teaching and curriculum. This year, the committee will consider proposals to (1) improve the format of teaching evaluations, (2) publish the results of teaching evaluations, (3) revamp the first-year elective, (4) move Constitutional Law I to the upper class curriculum and replace it with a course containing much of the material in Constitutional II, and (5) consider a new approach to scheduling classes.

Technology
Advises the dean on various policy issues concerning acquisition and use of computer and other technologies in the Law School. This year, the committee will consider (1) addition of AC power to individual seats in the large lecture rooms, (2) addition of AV capacity to the large lecture rooms, (3) addition of capacity for access to data in the large lecture rooms, and (4) whether to install or integrate a "student server" for boalt.org.
