Berkeley Business Law Journal

We are a dedicated team of students committed to producing the Berkeley Business Law Journal: an engaging periodical containing innovative business law-oriented commentary created by professors, professionals, and students. Though it is the youngest journal at the Boalt Hall School of Law, the Berkeley Business Law Journal is quickly growing into a promising national publication.

We hope to inspire scholars to explore new topics in business law and economics. We facilitate this development through hosting symposia, providing a constant forum for scholarly discussion, bringing together leading scholars from around the world, and publishing the newest and most intriguing articles.

Though relatively new, the Journal already has earned the attention of nearly every business law scholar in the U.S. We encourage you to find out what the buzz is all about. We hope you will find the Berkeley Business Law Journal engaging, educational and interesting.

3. Business Law Certificate Reminder

We are very excited that Berkeley Law and the Berkeley Center for Law, Business and Economy (BCLBE) have offered a Business Law Certificate option for students. As you enter into your first week of classes and solidify your course schedule, please keep in mind the certificate's requirements should you be interested in pursuing it. Details of the Certificate are available here: http://www.law.berkeley.edu/files/bclbe/Berkeley_Law_Business_Law_Certificate_web.pdf

4. Income Tax Course

Some of you may have been interested in the Income Tax I course and disappointed that the school is no longer offering 2 courses in the Fall, and potentially no Income Tax option in spring. BBLJ would like to petition to add another Income Tax course. If you are AT ALL interested in taking the class in spring, please email Matt DalSanto at matt.dalsanto@berkeley.edu ASAP.

5. Registering for Classes at Haas

Some of you may be interested in enrolling in courses at Haas. Here is a copy of an explanation we distributed on course enrollment last spring, for your convenience. It is best to contact Haas directly with questions.

From Professor David Robinson:
Taking Haas MBA Classes
The Haas MBA program is a closed system (you can’t see the classes on TeleBEARS) so I checked with the Asst. Director and have this reply:

As you may remember we don’t use Telebears to manage MBA course enrollments; rather we have our own local system from which we upload enrollment date to Telebears (which remains the system of record).  But non-Haas students can’t access that system directly.  Instead they still have to fill out paper forms and there is no direct action for them to take until the start of classes in August.  Please tell them to come to the MBA program office for further information.

The “until August” means, I think, that the Program “seats” MBAs first, then open seats are up for grabs.

Several of you have asked about this, so if it’s on your mind, it would be a good idea to stop by the MBA Program Office (4th floor “S” Wing of Haas) to learn about the system and get some guidance as to which courses are offered in Fall and what might be open to you.
